The Toyota Technical Education Network (T-Ten) is a two-year automotive program designed to upgrade the technical competency and professional level of the incoming dealership technician. The curriculum is designed by Toyota and GateWay Community College (GWCC) and leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Service Technology. The program involves not only attending classroom lecture and laboratory on Toyota products at GWCC, but also requires the student to work at a Toyota dealership.
The total program lasts two years with approximately 43 weeks spent at GateWay Community College and approximately 32-44 weeks at a Toyota dealership. Each year consists of rotating 8 weeks class at GateWay and 8 weeks paid work experience opportunities at a Toyota Dealer.
Since considerable time is spent at the dealership, it is a requirement of the program for the student to have a sponsoring Toyota dealer. The student will receive assistance in location and identification of participating Toyota dealerships. The main responsibility of the dealership is to provide training related employment for the student during his/her cooperative work experience periods.
