PACT (Professional Automotive Career Training) is a team effort that includes American Honda, local dealerships, GateWay Community College and students. American Honda supplies GateWay with state-of-the-art training materials, tools and course plans. AHM requires each school’s instructors to attend training at the American Honda training center annually, so they can stay abreast on the latest technology for their students.
At PACT schools like GateWay, students are taught by an ASE certified instructors who specialize in Honda technology. Each school is equipped with the special tools and equipment required in every dealer, as well as the training material found in the Training Centers. The curriculum conforms to NATEF’s stringent guidelines as well as meets the needs of the local dealerships and community.
Students in the PACT programs have the opportunity to work at local dealerships to gain real world experience. Students will also get to work with the specialized tools to supplement their own tool set, as well as the opportunity to earn wages while going to school.
Students that make the commitment to join the Honda team secure their future in the automotive industry and must meet the performance standards set up by the dealership while attending school as a full-time student. Students will also need to maintain satisfactory grades and need to have a basic automotive tool set to work from to participate in the program. Each graduating student is recognized by American Honda for their commitment as a PACT student, and given the opportunity to work at any sponsoring dealer in the country.
